Initial Smile
The smile photo must be centred and levelled; otherwise, all subsequent steps will be inaccurate.
Smile Analysis
Identifying facial landmarks to aid in designing the smile frame.
DSD Template
Restoring symmetry and harmony to the smile by utilizing ideal dental and interdental proportions incorporated within the DSD template.
Smile Simulation
It not only helps visualize the final results but also serves as a crucial diagnostic tool in the treatment planning phase.
Initial Scan
Most commonly, the files are in .stl or .ply format, which are compatible with all intraoral scanners.
DSD Template
Merge the 2D design with the 3D intraoral scan.
Additive (Motivational) Wax-up
It serves a dual purpose: it will be used both as a smile test drive and as a guide for veneer preparation.
Reductive (Ideal) Wax-up
It will be utilised to create the putty stent for fabricating temporary veneers and will also serve as a guide for the ceramist in constructing the final porcelain veneers.

Read MoreI recently got a digital scanner and wanted to learn how beautiful smiles were digitally designed. DSD made easy was a great first stepping stone into the design world for me. Everything taught was clear and concise. The course showed what photographs were required, which landmarks guide the position of teeth, how a 2D design can become a 3D design and it also provides the stl files of teeth which you can then use yourself. Dr. Marwan who created this course is very easy to talk to, takes time out of his busy schedule to help and explain things and has quite a lot of experience making beautiful smiles. For someone without prior digital design knowledge, I thought it was a fantastic course. If you want to design your own digital smiles, check out this course.
